Building a custom home is one of the largest investments of time and money you will make in your lifetime. Make sure to do your homework to choose the right builder. A good builder will walk you through every step of the process, making sure your project stays on time and within your budget. So how do you know if you are choosing the right one?
The right builder should be a good fit, both personally and professionally. The relationship you will create with your builder is much like a marriage–make sure the builder is someone you can communicate with easily. Find someone you’re comfortable working with, because you’re going to spend a lot of time and make some very stressful decisions with them.
It’s important to consider all the options, but trust your instincts. Don’t ignore it when you are interviewing builders and you get the feeling that something is just not right about what they are telling you… you might regret it in the long run.
Here are a few frequently asked questions to get you started:

Financing will be obtained through a lender with a construction to permanent financing loan. The final specifications and plan with contract from the builder will be necessary prior to final financing approval.
3. Should I consult with someone before buying the lot?
Before final purchase of any lot it is important to have “ builder eyes” look at it. There may be more site work than you think and that is an expense you want to allow for from the beginning.
